Biofeedback Program

Biofeedback is a form of treatment that trains the clients to use signals from their body to improve their health.  It involves engaging a client in various breathing techniques, with the aid of sensors and computerized programs, as a means to help clients monitor and learn to control their response to stress. By engaging in this form of treatment, individuals are able to gain awareness into how their minds and bodies work together in response to stress and anxiety. This feedback is then used to train clients how to improve their overall self-regulation.

“We have not been informed that our bodies tend to do what they are told if we know how to tell them.” -Elmer Green

Biofeedback can be used to achieve the following:

  • Reinforce a sense of balance (i.e. it helps the body to correct itself).
  • Help to motivate individuals to take on a more active role in their personal health care.
  • Used as a mind-body technique, it adds to the power and efficacy of other, more traditional forms of treatment.

Our goal is to help our clients

Here is a list of the most common physical and mental illnesses that biofeedback training can help cure and resolve:

  • Anxiety disorder
  • High blood pressure
  • Heart rate instability
  • Migraines
  • Side effects of chemotherapy
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Biofeedback is generally safe. There have been no negative side effects reported. However, biofeedback may not be for everyone. You should consult your primary care provider before starting this or any other type of complementary therapy.
